What gave rise to this site, and what it reaches toward.
In the local Adventist church, those who serve are called to act without always having been prepared. A death strikes, a visit is needed, a vote must be led, a soul collapses, a doctrine is questioned. The knowledge to do well exists, yet it sleeps, scattered through thick manuals, reserved for a few, and it fades a little more each time an experienced servant leaves us. Too often we improvise, we fall silent, or we give up. ETSB was born so that this knowledge stops being lost, and rests at last within reach of every hand that serves.
Let no one serve alone, and let nothing of the knowledge for serving well be lost. Equip every hand that serves, from the most isolated church to the best resourced, for the work of service.
Ephesians 4:12 · equipping the saints for the work of service
12345An aid: markers, overviews, learning paths, and an open door toward the official sources.
Not a substitute for the manuals (the manual prevails). Not the pastor, the board, or the conference. No legal value. Facing suffering, it refers on, it does not heal. It does not think in your place.
The ambition is in the purpose; the humility, in the means.
